What is Media Day?
An athlete portrait is a posed photograph of an individual athlete designed to highlight their identity, personality, and connection to their sport. These images are commonly used for media features, profiles, promotions, and personal branding.
This is can be done for individual athletes, but we can also combine 2-3 BFF's or siblings together.
I will be honest - these style of images can mess with your head. usually the athlete has make up on, hair done while in their sport uniform. This is a merging of their personality with their chosen sport. And yes, you can bring props of another sport you participate in to this session.
All sessions will be held at the ROOKE SCHOOL OF KARATE Dojo. 9610B Morinville Dr.
The examples on this page are ones of my daughter, Veronica in Karate and her friends in Basketball.
ONE DAY ONLY
You will need to reserve one 10 minute time space per athlete being photographed.
Come alone or with your siblings or your BFF's from the dojo. And be in your karate gi with proper belt. You can have your hair & make up looking like a cover of a magazine but your gi must be on.
Budget friendly
Each student to be photographed must pay in advance a $25 non refundable, non transferable sitting fee. This fee acts as a credit towards your package of choice.
Do You have to come?
If you do not require media photos of your child, then you don't need to show up. Children 13 years+ can come without a parent.

Each package is the final cost - no additional fees or taxes,
$25 sitting fee is a credit towards your chosen package
The photographer chooses which images make each package.
There are no refunds, exchanges or requests for additional edits on a completed package.
Your gallery is not delivered until your chosen package is paid in full.
MEMORY MATE

Package A
$35
- You will need to pay an additional $10 for this package
- You will receive just 1-3 digital files all on black background with a small ROOKE watermark in the lower corner. See below for example
NO MEMORY MATE included. You can add on a memory mate for an additional $15
Package B
$50
- Includes 1 Memory mate
- Also receive up to 5 digital files on black background with small ROOKE watermark in the lower corner. see below for examples
- You will need to pay an additional $25 for this package
Package C
$75
- Includes 1 Memory Mate
- All the digital files of your student that look amazing on black background with small ROOKE watermark in the lower corner. see below for examples
- You will need to pay an additional $50 for this package
MEMORY MATE
- 1 individual student per memory mate
- Student's full name
- Group Photo included
- Sized at 8x10 inches
- Receive JPEG file in HIGH / PRINT ready resolution
- Comes with Print Release
- Delivered by email
Digital Files
- Packages A, B or C come with digital files.
- All on black background
- JPEGS in both web ready size and print ready resolution
- Print Release included
- If multiple students are in a single image then all those students will receive the file.
- The bottom corner, not shown, will be a small ROOKE watermark
- Delivered by email with a private gallery to download from

Each student will need one 10 minute session. More spots may open up as the current ones fill up.
If you are coming with 3 other people that means 4 sessions need to be reserved but each student is required to pay the $25 sitting fee.
There are 3 steps to reserve your requested time spot:

- Pay the sitting fee either by etransfer or in advance to HEATHER PALMER by exact cash
- The google form needs to be filled out by a legal guardian/parent if student is 17 years or younger.

Important Details
Why is media day on a separate day then group photo day?
Not every student, parent wants individual photos of their student. This way only those who want photos are present. This is a one day only event, so please plan accordingly. Arrive 5 minutes early and be ready to go. Do not disrupt the session before you
What should we wear for our session?
Always your GI with current belt rank. Bare feet, but you can have your hair done & some lip glass.
Why is each package up to a certain number of files?
The parties agree to cheerful cooperation & communication for the best possible result within the definition of this assignment, the photographer is not responsible if key individuals fail to appear or cooperate during photography sessions or for missed images due to details not revealed to photographer. The photographer cannot be responsible for unusable images due to distractions from other parties, eyes being closed and other circumstances beyond the photographers control.
will your photos be used for anything?
The short answer is Yes, possibly. But it's a little more detailed then that.
- The law is the photographer owns the copyright of all files. That means Photography by Heather Palmer may use images from today in their studio marketing. Both online & in print. See the last paragraph for the legal wording.
- Rooke School of Karate may request copies to use in their marketing displays as well.
- HOWEVER the studio will never ever use your images for anything illegal.
- We recognize that some minors may have circumstances that prevent their images from being shared publicly. If this applies to your child, please complete the designated section of the Google Form so we can respect those restrictions.
You hereby consent to and authorize the use and reproduction in print and electronic format of any and all photographs taken on this day for any purpose without any monetary compensation by Heather Palmer. You may be provided an electronic copy of any photograph in which your image appears upon request at the discretion of the owner. You also acknowledge that you may not submit a photo taken by Heather Palmer to be published in any format without written consent from Heather Palmer.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE CAMERA FAILS?
If Heather Palmer cannot perform due to fire, casualty, violent weather, Illness or other obstacles beyond the control of the photographer all monies will be returned at 100% of what has already been paid by the client and no more and that this contract will become null and void. This also applies to the malfunction of any equipment used by Heather Palmer. Equipment is not limited to camera body and lenses, memory cards, lost or stolen images, crashed computers, prints or memory cards and also any damage not at the fault of the photographer. If in the event that Heather Palmer fails to perform for any other reason Heather Palmer shall not be liable for any amount in excess of the value of the client’s package. If partial images are lost a prorated amount of the exposures lost will be based on the estimated percentage of the total number of original images taken. Please also take into consideration that Heather Palmer will not break or bend laws, rules or bylaws to accommodate a specific photo for the client.
WHAT IMAGES WILL YOU GET and WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH THEM?
I will not show, distribute or sell any unedited, raw images that do not make the cut for your package. I, the photographer, decide which images taken will be printed or delivered to you. All images, electronic or prints are owned by Heather Palmer, and may not be edited or altered in any way by anyone else other than Heather Palmer. this includes no AI enhancements, social media filters or cropping. In regard to any digital images that you may receive or purchase: Client is licensed to print copies up to the allotted size for personal use only, that includes sharing a printed image to family and/or friends. You may share the digital file on social media sites as well. Business or commercial use prohibited. Any unauthorized display, reproduction, sale, entrance in competitions, distribution, alteration ( includes no cropping, color adjustment, text overlays etc), or defamatory, malicious other misuse in digital or print format is strictly prohibited and can be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. For permission to use these images in digital or print format for other than personal use, please contact Heather Palmer.
IF CHILDREN ARE PRESENT
I do not want to pressure a child into cooperation or smiles, I take my cues from them. A child’s innocence of smiles & the odd frown are what make lifestyle photography so unique that I cannot guarantee smiles or cooperation on the child’s part. What we capture will be your photos. Please ensure that you the parent are present during the entire shoot and to encourage & discipline your child if need be.
Any damage of equipment belonging to Heather Palmer or belonging to the location vendor caused by you or a member of your family will be an expense you the client will cover.
Who can come watch?
This is not a spectator event. Please if possible, only bring the student(s) being photographed & 1 legal guardian if needed. Teens can come without a guardian as long as the sitting fee is paid & the google form is filled out.
Forgot to book a spot?
No walk in's allowed. This day is only for those who reserved in advance.
How do I upgrade a package?
- Your sitting fee gets you in the studio.
- The day of you can decide on your desired package after we see what we capture of your student. If we capture a dozen great shots, I will let you know and you can upgrade to package C
- Upgrades need to happen the day of the session
- However, there are no refunds if you want to down grade.
